Oi...

Microsoft has patented a new way to "watermark" digital downloads in order to track illegal usage of digital audio files.

Basically Microsoft has found a way to scramble and scatter DRM tracking within the bytes of a digital audio file without it being audible or manipulated. Yikes.

Albums In The Day: The Records Of My Life - Pt. 32

Dishwalla - Pet Your Friends (1995)

If anyone besides me remembers these guys I'll be amazed. Dishwalla were a blip on the radar of mid-90's alternative pop, having a minor hit with "Counting Blue Cars" in the summer of '95. The funny thing about this album was that it seemed to alternate really great tracks with really awful ones, more specifically every odd number track good, every even track crappy. Note how these good odd-numbered tracks also had multi-word titles ("Pretty Babies", "Counting Blue Cars", "Charlie Brown's Parents", "Miss Emma Peel") while the crappy even-numbered tracks had single-word titles ("Haze", "Explode", "Give"). Just weird... I saw these guys open for Goo Goo Dolls and Violent Femmes at Milwaukee's Summerfest that year (what an odd bill that was), and they put on a pretty good show. At any rate, for the most part Pet Your Friends was a good album, especially with "Counting" on it. Give it a whirl!

Give It A Try:
"Pretty Babies"
"Counting Blue Cars"
"Charlie Brown's Parents"
"Miss Emma Peel"
"The Feeder"
