I can longer promise regular updates apparently, but I can try and throw some on here when the chance presents itself. ;)

Went to Madison's Forward Music Festival over the weekend, and it was quite the good time. Most notable sets I caught were the bands of Reverence (a local darkwave/industrial showcase), Reverend Peyton, Dan Wilson (of Semisonic fame), Princeton, talking about Beyonce Knowles with the guys from Ra Ra Riot, and Low (*swoon*). A couple of bands my girlfriend and I took in were pleasant suprises. Opening for Low Saturday night were the Antlers, who have a very smooth atmospheric sound, best exemplified by the song "Sylvia" from their latest album. At Reverence an old local favorite The Dark Clan played an awesome set highlighted by a cover of Racer X's "Technical Difficulties". Their latest EP features a great little track called "Starwash". Good stuff...

Some interesting new stuff floating around on the interwebs:
Anjulie - Boom (another white girl R&B track, but tasty all the same)
Death Cab For Cutie - Meet Me On The Equinox (first single from the New Moon soundtrack)
Editors - Papillon (still not sure about their sound on this track...)
Spoon - Got Nuffin' (SPOOOOON!)
Wolfmother - New Moon Rising (these guys are still around? really?!?)

The girlfriend has been renting the DVDs for Rescue Me and True Blood recently, and while the shows themselves aren't too bad ("SOOOKIE!), the theme songs are even better:
Jace Everett - Bad Things (theme from True Blood)
The Von Bondies - C'mon C'mon (theme from Rescue Me)

What post on here is complete without the obligatory covers?
Aimee Allen - Santeria (yeah, she went there.)
Amy Millan - I Will Follow You Into The Dark (I've always like Amy's voice, and this an interesting take on the Death Cab tune)
The Lemonheads - Beautiful (Dando meets Aguilera)
The Oak Ridge Boys - Seven Nation Army (fantastic cover of the Stripes)

Some of the goofier tracks I've heard this year:
Asher Roth - Lark On My Go-Kart (any track that uses Teddy Ruxpin in a rhyme is tops in my book)
Psychostick - Beer!!! (low-brow, yes, but funny)
Todd Snider - America's Favorite Pastime (we need more songs about pitchers throwing no-hitters on acid. Really, we do...)
